It's been a lively old week if you're a follower of the great god apple.
Monday night saw a lot of feverish activity with the acolytes following live feeds from the Apple Worldwide developers conference in the states. Those of you out there who are mac addicts will no doubt have been glued to your MBPs (mac book pros, or laptops to the uninitiated) praying for a new iphone, hoping for a netbook and positively urging an iphone nano to appear.
What Apple did deliver was a new iphone OS as planned and also new hardware with all sorts of high speed goodies to make sure that they stay so far ahead of the game it's simply not fair on the competition.
Iphone envy is the game that all the other mobile users play. Apple have so staked a claim in the mobile territory that all the others can do is try and follow by whatever means possible. Ok, so the iphone still doesn't have every single feature and yeah we'll all have to pay handsomely to upgrade. But you know what? We'll do it happily and boastfully complain that Apple has skanked us again.
As a client said in a meeting earlier this week, if Apple brought out a lump of wood with their logo on it, I'd buy it.
Now THAT'S brand loyalty to die for.
